Begin with the End in Mind

Image
Start with a clear destination in mind. Covey says we can use our imagination to develop a vision of what we want to become and use our conscience to decide what values will guide us. Most of us find it rather easy to busy ourselves. We work hard to achieve victories -- promotions, higher income, and more recognition. But we don't often stop to evaluate the meaning behind this busyness, behind these victories -- we don't ask ourselves if these things that we focus on so intently are what really matter to us. Habit 2 suggests that, in everything we do, we should begin with the end in mind. Start with a clear destination. That way, we can make sure the steps we're taking are in the right direction. Covey emphasizes that our self-awareness empowers us to shape our own lives, instead of living our lives by default or based on the standards or preferences of others. Beginning with the end in mind is also extremely important for businesses. Being a manager is about opti

Be Proactive

Image
We're in charge. We choose the scripts by which to live our lives. Use this self-awareness to be proactive and take responsibility for your choices. What distinguishes us as humans from all other animals is our inherent ability to examine our own character, to decide how to view ourselves and our situations, and to control our own effectiveness. Put simply, in order to be effective one must be proactive. Reactive people take a passive stance -- they believe the world is happening to them. They say things like: " There's nothing I can do. " " That's just the way I am. " They think the problem is "out there" -- but that thought is the problem. Reactivity becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, and reactive people feel increasingly victimized and out of control. Proactive people, however, recognize they have responsibility -- or "response-ability," which Covey defines as the ability to choose how you will respond t

Gender Equality and Economic Prosperity in Pakistan

Image
Gender refers to the socially constructed characteristics of women and men such as, norms and roles. These norms and roles vary from society to society. Gender equality is a phenomenon that gives equal rights and responsibilities to all human beings regardless of their gender. Since the past few decades, the phenomenon of gender equality is valued in Economic, Social and Political dimensions. According to World Bank, productivity can be enhanced if gender disparities are ruled out by giving equal access to men and women in all spheres, in order to progress holistically. Gender equality is a key factor in contributing to the economic growth of a nation. It has become a need of the hour, as women represent half of the world’s population. In Pakistan, females constitute about 51 % of the total population. In the context of development and economy, this percentage of manpower is a highly valuable resource for the country’s prosperity. However, Pakistan has been facing the issue of gender i

The Power of Positive Energy in Your Life

Image
I strongly believe in the incredible impact that the energy of the people around us can have on our lives. You might be surprised to learn just how much energy of others can affect our day, our mood, and our Life. It’s a complete science of body vibes. Let me elaborate: Have you ever noticed how someone with a good attitude can lift your spirits? However, spending time with someone who has a Negative energy and attitude in life might drain you. This is energy's power. It happened to me repeatedly. if someone tries to convince me that only they are the best person on earth by being nasty towards others or by criticizing everything around them. Because ultimately this negative individual will not leave me out of their criticism, it drains my energy and demotivates me. I try to avoid these people at all costs. Positive vibes are like a warm hug that welcomes you in. You experience peace, joy, and safety as a result. When you're in the presence of someone who exudes positive energy

How to help Improve the Economy

Regardless of your local or national economic situation, many people wonder what they can do help bolster regional economic growth. Most major economic change is based on the actions of major corporations and government actors, but there are some things you can do to champion a better economy. Start by investing in your local economy, where you can support businesses and jobs by switching to local shops and services. You can also help foster greater change by advocating for economic policy reform in your area, and keeping yourself and your community educated about the latest economic trends. 1) Investing in Your Local Economy A. Purchase from local, small businesses. Purchasing from big-box and non-locally owned stores filters your money out of your local economy. Keeps money circulating around your local economy by shopping from locally-owned companies whenever possible? Some easy changes to make include going to local mechanics instead of dealerships, and a local bookstore instead of

The Role of Gender Equality in Ensuring Economic Growth

The first premise of this equation is to define gender equality. Is its connotation in socio–economic terms very encompassing, or is gender equality just labor market parity? Studies suggest countries around the globe could raise their respective GDP levels if more women were given the chance to enter the labor market. This, however, will necessitate gender equality policy actions of one kind or another. Although the tools to be used may vary between the countries, there are certain common aspects that will be subject of discussion in the coming years. Gender equality is a multidimensional term assuming economic, cultural and social dimensions. I would always consider the discussion under three primary topics. The right to be educated is the most basic one. This right is a vital condition for labor market parity, but is not adequate by itself. If women or men are discriminated against in terms of access to education, then the human capital of our society will not be nurtured. The secon
